Our Official UK Dealer, Roland Alsop Machine Shop, recently celebrated an outstanding success at the Spitfire drag strip, one of the UK's premier no prep drag racing events.
The team's Subaru tackled one of the most demanding drag racing surfaces in the country. With its bumpy track and limited grip, Spitfire is a true test of both driver confidence and drivetrain reliability.
Competing at the event for the very first time, Team Roland Alsop achieved an incredible result by taking overall victory while also setting a new all-time speed record of 161 mph (259 km/h) over the quarter mile.
Although the Subaru is capable of producing around 1,250–1,300 hp, the team competed with approximately 900 hp on the day. Weighing around 1,100 kg, the car demonstrated exceptional performance and consistency in extremely challenging conditions.
As Steve Guirey commented:
"Managing to get the win and set an overall all-time speed record was a great result for our first time there. Trust me, 161 mph in a quarter mile on that surface felt extremely fast."
